About Me
I was born and raised in Central Pennsylvania. I started reading at an early age and creating my own stories shortly after.
My editorial experience and credentials stretch far and wide, from being a writing tutor at a writing center to editing over 50 Amazon Bestselling books. My academic achievements include a B.A. in Writing, a B.A. in English Literature, and an M.F.A. in Fiction. My job titles have been editor, editor-in-chief, editorial assistant intern, editorial administrator, and managing editor. I've been a member of editorial teams at TINGE Literary Magazine, BookFuel, TouchPoint Press, the American Pharmacist's Association, and The Author Incubator. To date, I've edited over 150 books.
Currently, I'm the managing editor of Writer's Digest magazine, which has been a go-to resource for writers since 1920! Some of my duties include spearheading the world-building column Building Better Worlds, a 2023 Eddie & Ozzie Award winner. I also run the Flash Fiction February Challenge on the WD blog, encouraging writers to pen one microstory a day over the course of the month and share their work with other participants. In 2024, I was awarded the Inspirational Women in Literature Award from the And I Thought Ladies organization.
Online, I am the proud cohost of "The Word Nest" podcast, where my friend and fellow writer/editor, Amelia, discuss everything from fandom to publishing drama and beyond. I also run a TikTok account dedicated to all my hobbies: @ScrapHappyHobbies.
These days, I am a proud Marylander. When I'm not editing, I am an avid consumer of stories. I love to read and watch as much TV as is humanly possible. I also take writing and editing classes to keep myself up-to-date with industry standards and trends (and also just because I'm a nerd). I actively enjoy photography, cross-stitch, and running around after my toddler and our golden retriever, Gimli.
